Leadership Thought of the Week #1

Every week over on LeeCockerell.com, Lee shares a Leadership thought, just something to think about in your daily life. Every week (hopefully on Mondays), we will be sharing with you that thought and adding some insight into how that plays into the Gen-Y lifestyle. So without further ado, this week's leadership thought is:

If you know what your are trying to do, then it is a lot easier to do it. Make sure you clearly understand what you are trying to do before you begin. What do you really want the outcome to be. Have you thought about the consequences?

Personally, I think this really hits home with a lot of young professionals early in their career. They have difficulty in finding meaning in their work or within their company and organization. It also plays a part when you are starting your own business. There are a lot of dead end jobs and situations out there. Having a clear plan of action in the interview stage is crucial to your happiness there.

Gen-Y, what do you think about the leadership thought of the week?

You make a great point. It is so very important to understand what you are trying to do from the outset. I am only in the early stages of my career, but I've already learned that with each position, each personal initiative, each activity that you're serious about, you need to figure out both what you want and what's possible (hopefully the two line up) and then go from there.
